SINGAPORE – A 32-year-old male trailer truck driver is assisting the police with investigations after an incident on the PIE caused a traffic snarl for over 1½ hours on April 17.No one was injured in the incident, said the police, who added that the trailer is believed to have skidded.
In photos of the aftermath of the incident shared on social media, the trailer can be seen taking up all three lanes of the expressway.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) first took to social media platform X to report the blockage, which occurred on the PIE towards Changi, before the Tampines Avenue 5 exit, at 10.36am.
Road users were advised to avoid lanes one and two, with congestion stretching to Bedok North Avenue 3.
At 11.14am, the road before Tampines Avenue 5 on the PIE was closed off.
In response to queries from The Straits Times, LTA said that the blockage was cleared by about 12.15pm.

TP should do more "Frequent Checks" on those drivers driving heavy vehicles, transport and goods vehicles. Some can be seen as foreign drivers, by the way they speed and cut here & here on the roads. Are these drivers really qualified to drive the vehicles on S'pore roads? Or their employers take the chance to let them drive (as long as they can drive the particular vehicle) and save on costs??

Luckily no one is getting injury in this incident. However, I'm still feel uneasy where the LTA didn't have restriction for heavy vehicles like this from using the highway during heavy traffic hours.
