Trump imposes 32% tariff on Taiwan to address trade gap

US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on imports from several trading partners, including a 32% tariff on goods from Taiwan.
This is part of a broader “reciprocal tariffs” policy, revealed during an event in the Rose Garden on Apr. 2.
The tariffs will be implemented in two phases. A 10% tax on imports from all countries will begin on Apr. 5. Higher rates for specific countries, such as China (34%), Japan (24%), and Vietnam (46%), will take effect on Apr. 9.
