Probably the cheesiest and most “explosive” pizza you’ll ever see, PizzaMaru’s Halla Cheesy Volcano Pizza is inspired by an actual volcano in Jeju, Korea, hence its dome-shaped crust. The 12-inch pizza comes in two versions: a spicy shrimp (S$39.80), and a non-spicy boneless chicken (S$36.80). In true volcanic fashion, the pizza comes with an overflowing amount of nacho cheese — perfect for those obsessed with cheese.

We tried the non-spicy version topped with boneless fried chicken, and let’s just say we truly underestimated the amount of cheese on this. The pizza comes served with a bowl of creamy nacho cheese on the side, which you’ll need to pour over your pizza. It was pretty satisfying to watch the cheese overflow onto the dome crust. After pouring the cheese, you’ll need to crack the crust before you devour your pizza — yes, it does get a little messy.

The pizza on its own is a pretty classic pizza topped with bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and very large chunks of boneless chicken. I loved that the chicken was well-battered and still very crispy despite being drenched in the rich nacho cheese sauce. Most of the cheese gets absorbed by the dome shell but it does leave you feeling a little jelak after a while.

For sides, we had the Heavenly Fries (S$6.90) which was essentially fries drizzled with honey and lightly dusted with parmesan cheese. What’s surprising is that the fries came with a whipped cream dip — yes, whipped cream. Funnily enough, the combination tasted more like honey butter rather than honey and whipped cream. I will definitely be ordering it again for sure.

Drinks-wise, we had the Fruit Punch (S$10.90) and the Citrus Black Tea (S$10.90). Both drinks came with a generous amount of fresh fruits. The Citrus Fruit Tea was light and refreshing while the Fruit Punch had a nice balance of sweet and tangy. The drinks also came in this huge jug which made it super value for money.
