TheDanDangler, a Call Of Duty streamer, has been banned for ‘inappropriate attire’ – calling into question Twitch’s moderation practices.
Twitch is a platform where at any one time, anything could be streaming. However, the moderation team can get a little overzealous with their decisions, and the reasons for banning various members of the site, no matter how big they are.
TheDanDangler is a Call Of Duty partnered streamer who has recently joined the hot tub meta, wherein streamers will do themed streams while in a hot tub. Amouranth has seen huge success with the meta but many others have also joined in.
In now-deleted tweets responding to the ban, Lanza stated that her stream was set up so that it would not go against Twitch’s guidelines. However, she was washing her car in a bikini, which might have caused the ban.
Twitch’s moderation uses real people, rather than competitor Google’s method with YouTube, which utilises a range of bots.
This is why you’ll see uploads of copyrighted material on YouTube that features odd cuts or is flipped and shrunk into a corner, as that’s harder for the bots to analyse and take down.
