Two cyclists killed in hit-and-run incident in Muar

MUAR: Two cyclists died and another was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Parit Salam, Parit Yusof, last night.
The accident, believed to have occurred about 8.30pm, claimed the life of one victim at the scene, while another died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF).
Muar police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, said police were alerted to the incident at 8.45pm involving three foreign cyclists.
He said initial investigations revealed that all three victims, aged 21, were riding against traffic from Parit Yusof towards Bukit Mor.

"Upon reaching the location, an unidentified vehicle rammed into them, causing all three to be thrown onto the roadside. Two of the deceased sustained body injuries, while the surviving victim suffered a broken wrist and right shoulder and is currently being treated at HPSF," he said.
Raiz Mukhliz said police are still tracking down the vehicle involved in the incident to assist in investigations.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving). Members of the public with information are urged to contact investigating officer Inspector Khairun Izham Noor Yusry at 013-9121508 or the nearest police station," he said.
