Two directors nabbed over fake documents for foreign worker permits
KUALA LUMPUR: Two company directors have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of submitting documents containing false information to obtain foreign worker permits.
Sources said the suspects, both in their 50s, were detained around 7pm yesterday while giving their statements at the MACC office in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the source, both men, through their respective companies, were found to have submitted forged documents in applications for foreign worker permits between 2023 and 2024.
"Preliminary investigations showed the suspects had allegedly submitted applications under the Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0 to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department, which contained false information.

"This was done with the intent to deceive the department into issuing Temporary Employment Visit Pass stickers for foreign workers who were not employed by their companies," the source said.
The MACC has also obtained a five-day remand order against the suspects to facilitate investigations.
The remand order was issued this morning by Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Abd Hanim following an application by the MACC at the Kuala Lumpur magistrates' court.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib confirmed the arrest of the two suspects.
"The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for submitting false documents to deceive a government agency.
"The MACC is also tracking down two other individuals suspected of acting as agents and forging documents on behalf of the suspects," he added.
