PETALING JAYA: Men's singles player Ng Tze Yong will have to take more time off after being diagnosed with an injury to his right knee.
This was confirmed by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in a statement released on Thursday (May 22), stating that Tze Yong will need to rest for at least two weeks before returning to the court.
However, his comeback will also depend on his physical condition and the speed of his recovery.
"Tze Yong was forced to retire midway through the match due to discomfort in his knee.
"Following medical evaluation, he has been diagnosed with a strain to the knee and will be out of action for at least two weeks pending further assessment.
"BAM wishes Tze Yong a smooth and speedy recovery," the statement said.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury during his first-round match against Hong Kong's Angus Ng Ka Long at the Malaysian Masters held at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, on Wednesday (May 21).
