UEM Edgenta’s MD and CEO Syahrunizam resigns

PETALING JAYA: UEM Edgenta Bhd
has announced the resignation of its managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), Syahrunizam Samsudin, with effect from Aug 31, 2025.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the asset management and infrastructure solutions company said Syahrunizam, 51, resigned to pursue other opportunities.
“The board has commenced the process of identifying a suitable successor for the role,” said UEM Edgenta.
Syahrunizam succeeded Datuk Azmir Merican Azmi Merican in May 2020.
According to the company’s annual report, Syahrunizam began his career as a returning Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) scholar serving in the corporate planning and development division, and later became the founding shareholder and chief operating officer of PETRONAS’ first IT outsourcing company.
Prior to joining UEM Edgenta, he was the CEO of Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd.
For its first quarter ended March 31, 2025 (1Q25), UEM Edgenta reported a net loss of RM17.95mil compared with a net profit of RM9.77mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dipped to RM646.06mil from RM677.58mil a year ago.
In a filing on its 1Q25 performance, the company said it remains focused on international business expansion by strengthening its foothold in key markets including Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
“These markets present significant growth opportunities aligned with our capabilities and long-term vision,” it said.
