UN sounds alarm: Maternal mortality risk resurgence as global aid cuts disrupt healthcare services

GENEVA, April 7 — Maternal mortality rates have dropped dramatically in the past quarter of a century, but the UN today warned that progress had stalled, risking major backsliding amid unprecedented global aid cuts.
In a fresh report, the World Health Organisation said that global maternal deaths had dropped 40 per cent since the turn of the century.
