(CNN)The US Soccer Federation offered the women's and men's national teams identical contracts, a proposal that the United States Women's National Team Players Association (USWNTPA) called "PR stunts."

The sport's national governing body made the offer to both teams in an attempt to resolve an ongoing dispute with the US Women's national soccer team over equal pay.
