Urban Decay Parts Ways with Skindinavia After 15 Years — Here’s What It Means for Your All Nighter Setting Spray

In a shake-up that’s caught the attention of beauty lovers everywhere, L’Oréal-owned Urban Decay has ended its 15-year formulation partnership with Skindinavia – the brand behind the cult-favourite All Nighter Setting Spray.

The split was revealed by Skindinavia in a heartfelt Instagram post on 28 July, calling the collaboration “the most successful in makeup” and reminiscing about a partnership “built on trust, sealed with a handshake, and carried on for 15 wonderful years.”

According to the post, since its launch in 2010, the All Nighter Setting Spray stood out as the first and only setting spray to cool makeup – rather than just seal it – thanks to Skindinavia’s patented technology (US patent 9198840). But according to Skindinavia, the new Urban Decay version has dropped those signature cooling ingredients in favour of a reformulated blend.

Urban Decay began teasing the updated formula on Instagram from 24 July (USA date), before unveiling it fully the next day. The brand promises “24-hour wear, a finer mist, temperature-cooling technology, and a refreshed scent”, declaring: “The best got even better.” The revamped spray hits Urban Decay’s website on 31 July and will roll out to Sephora and Ulta Beauty soon after.

Skindinavia, however, is standing its ground. “Most brands cannot stand up to big companies. But Skindinavia will,” it wrote, vowing to continue producing its original award-winning formula independently: “It will only change when you decide it should, not us.”

Founded in 2005 by Allen Goldman, Skindinavia is a go-to brand for professional makeup artists and long-wear beauty devotees. Now, with both versions of All Nighter set to exist in the beauty world, makeup lovers will have a choice: stick with the original or try Urban Decay’s updated take on the icon.
