Vintage in Pills ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Spring 2004 Paris - Fashion ChannelAlexander McQueen injected theatrical energy into Paris Fashion Week with his Fall 2004 collection, transforming the Salle Wagram, a 19th-century dance hall, into the stage for a spectacular fashion performance. Inspired by Sydney Pollack’s They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, the show—choreographed by Michael Clark—merged dance, storytelling, and high fashion into a breathtaking spectacle. The opening scene saw models enter arm-in-arm with muscular sailors, wearing fishtailed silver lamé gowns, cha-cha dresses, and feathered skirts. Ballet and cabaret influences shone through in corseted tulle tutus over gray sweats, satin tap suits, and fluid chiffon creations. A Billie Holiday-inspired performer in pink charmeuse and ostrich feathers added to the drama, while bodysuited showgirls soared through the air in the arms of their partners.McQueen’s signature tailoring was present but softened, incorporating delicate lingerie-inspired inserts. Denim was reimagined, spliced onto nude tulle for a daring contrast. The collection reached its peak during an elimination race, where models sprinted across the runway in fluorescent chiffon and athletic-inspired ensembles, their heels impossibly high.Be one of the first to see new videos.
