21 Aug - Veteran voice actor Atsuko Tanaka, most known for her role as Motoko Kusanagi in "Ghost in the Shell", has recently passed away.

The news was announced by her son and voice actor Hikaru Tanaka on his Twitter account, writing, "To everyone who has always supported me, on August 20th 2024, my biological mother, voice actress Atsuko Tanaka, passed away."

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude on behalf of the fans who loved Atsuko Tanaka, and to the industry people who took care of her during her lifetime. It is very unfortunate that we have to announce the mother-child relationship in this way," he said.
