“White Lotus” co-stars Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood are setting the record straight on one major rumor that’s been swirling since the show’s Season 3 finale.

The two actors, who became fan favorites playing lovers Rick and Chelsea on the HBO Max comedy-drama, got together with Variety for a lengthy joint interview published on Wednesday.

Since the season’s shocking conclusion in April, fans have engaged in intense speculation about the nature of the two actors’ offscreen relationship. Self-appointed sleuths threw around theories about an on-set affair between Wood and the married Goggins, and some conjectured that the two had since become involved in a feud.

Speaking to Variety, the two said that they aren’t feuding.

“There is no feud,” Goggins told the magazine. “I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me.”

Variety noted that Goggins became “choked up” while speaking about Wood and praising her talent, comparing her to actors Goldie Hawn and Meg Ryan.

“She can do anything, and she will,” Goggins continued. “You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I’ll be on an island, I think Greece. But she’s special. There is no feud. She is love and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.”

The Variety story did not address the affair rumors.

The interview marked only the second time the two stars had seen each other since a “White Lotus” premiere event in April. The magazine described Goggins and Wood as becoming “visibly emotional” when they saw each other and embracing “for 30 seconds,” saying the team at Variety “suddenly felt” they were “intruding on a private moment.”

Goggins’ wife, director Nadia Conners, touched on the affair speculation in an interview with Hello! Magazine earlier this month. She called the gossip “odd to see,” but wrote it off as an “indication of how much people were invested in the fictional characters.”
