What To Watch This Week: June 2-8, 2025
Stick (Apple TV+, June 4)
This 10-part sports comedy series stars Owen Wilson as a has-been pro golfer who tries to jumpstart his mojo by mentoring a 17-year-old prodigy (Peter Dager). Kinda like golf version of The Colour of Money. Colour of what? Okay, how about Happy Gilmore? But with more pathos — and told from Chubbs’ perspective. Co-stars Timothy Olyphant and Marc Maron.

Predator: Killer of Killers (Disney+, June 6)
Before Predator: Badlands arrives in cinemas Nov 6, this animated anthology feature — by VFX studio The Third Floor (Thor: Love & Thunder, The Mandalorian), making its animation debut — reveals how everyone’s favourite race of intergalactic head-hunters takes on three warriors from different periods in human history: a Viking raider, a ninja in feudal Japan, and a WWII pilot. Place your bets.

Mercy for None (Netflix, June 6)
So Ji-sub (Doctor Lawyer) stars in this eight-part series as a former gangster who returns to his old life to avenge his brother’s (Lee Jun-hyuk) death. If you have anything to do with it, be prepared to reap the whirlwind. For the rest of us, stay out of his way.

Humane (Max, June 7)
Amid a global environmental crisis, governments resort to forced euthanasia to reduce the earth’s population. One family — led by Peter Gallagher — decided to volunteer for the program, much to the chagrin of his children. Directed by Caitlin (daughter of David) Cronenberg, the thriller also stars Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars) and Jay Baruchel (How to Train Your Dragon).

Good Boy (Prime Video, new episodes every Saturday & Sunday)
The 16-part drama follows a group of former star athletes-turned-cops (huh?)— played by Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok — assigned to take down a crime syndicate. Sport Singapore, are you reading this?

Ocean with David Attenborough (Disney+, June 8)
Mark United Nations Oceans Day (June 9) with this powerful documentary that looks at how overfishing is destroying marine life. Warning: the rarely-seen footage of bottom trawling is heartbreaking. But it’s not all gloom and doom. Problems made by man can also be solved by them. We just need the resolve to follow through.
