Guo Liang and Chantalle Ng will host the ceremony, with Hong Kong actor Lau Ching-wan (or Sean, as the English press calls him) appearing as a guest presenter, and Kit Chan performing classic theme songs from over the years. Murder on the Menu (mewatch & Channel 8, July 2, 8pm)

Shark Whisperer (Netflix, June 30)

This documentary — co-directed by James Reed, the director of the Oscar-feted My Octopus Teacher — follows marine conservationist and content creator Ocean Ramsey as she shares her connection with the apex predators of the deep blue sea. While her advocacy is widely applauded, some critics view her as more of an attention-seeker. Decide for yourself. If you can get enough of sharks, also check outAll the Sharks(Netflix, July 4) — it’s a game show! —Sharks Up Close with Bertie Gregory(Disney+, July 6), Sharks of the North (Disney+, July 6), and Investigation Shark Attack (Disney+, July 6).

Heads of State (Prime Video, July 2)

In what loony universe is John Cena the POTUS and Idris Elba the UK Prime Minister? Well, this one. The Suicide Squad alums play the eponymous characters, forced to team up after an assassination attempt on their lives. Let’s hope they don’t kill each other first. With Ilya Naishuller (Nobody, Hardcore Henry) at the helm, expect some OTT action.

The Old Guard 2 (Netflix, July 2)

Those grumpy immortal warriors are back! Andy (Charlize Theron), now stripped of her immortality, and her team face more nemeses — both old (Veronica Ngo, whose character was glimpsed in the first movie) and new (Uma Thurman plays an old — literally — acquaintance with an axe to grind). Henry Golding is another series newbie, as “old friend who may provide the key to unlocking the mystery behind the immortal existence”. In short, he’s the one in charge of exposition.

Sinners (Max, July 4)

Ryan Coogler takes a break from the MCU (which has been feeling a little meh lately) for more personal stories, like this one, set in 1932 in the deep American south. Michael B Jordan plays dual roles as gangster twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta start again. There, they must confront not only the KKK — but something far worse: vampires. There’s more to Sinners than just its From Dusk till Dawn parallels; it also delves into deeper themes of history, culture, and music. Quite frankly, there’s nothing like it.

Law and the City (Disney+, July 5)

Set in Seocho, Seoul’s legal district, this 12-part drama follows the trials and tribulations of a group of overworked and underappreciated attorneys — among them Ahn Juh-yeong (Lee Jong-suk, Big Mouth), a jaded nine-year associate, and Kang Hui-ji (Mun Ka-young, My Dearest Nemesis), his ambitious new colleague.
