An education advocacy group has lambasted the government for the abolishing the Early Childhood and Community Education Directorate General from the Education and Culture Ministry, arguing the move would abandon citizens who could not receive formal education. Network for Education Watch Indonesia (JPPI) national coordinator Ubaid Matraji said the decision to scrap the directorate general was unjust, as not all citizens had access to schools. “We’re advocating for providing education to the people who do not have access to schools. Learning should not be limited to formal education inside the classroom, but there should be places where people can learn,” he said.
