WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature to allow users to share their screen during a video call.

According to leaker website WABetaInfo, the feature is available to some users on WhatsApp beta for Android through the 2.23.11.19 update.

Users will be able to access this feature via a new icon on the video calling tab. After tapping on the icon, users will be greeted with a prompt to “Start recording or casting with WhatsApp?”.

They will also be reminded that WhatsApp will have access to any content that is playing on their screen or device including information such as “passwords, payment details, photos, messages and audio”.

Screensharing may be a useful feature for users who want to share presentations or demonstrate software processes to the recipient through their devices. Users will also have full control over the feature as they can stop the screensharing process from their end at any time.

However, WABetaInfo reported that the feature may not be available for large group calls and the recipient may not be able to receive any content through screenshare if they are using an older version of WhatsApp.

Users on Android devices can sign up to become a tester for the beta or unreleased version of WhatsApp via this link.
