Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was dating the singer’s former assistant, Brittney Jones, before his death.

Jones was identified in the talent manager’s obituary, which referred to her as “his beautiful and loving partner in life and business,” after his August 7 death following a three-year battle with skin cancer. Jones previously worked as Clarkson’s assistant while the singer was married to Blackstock. Clarkson and Blackstock were married from 2013 until 2020.

Jones is an executive assistant originally based in Nashville, Tennessee, but living in Montana with Blackstock at the time of his death.

She Worked With Kelly Clarkson Until 2020

According to her LinkedIn, Jones served as a production assistant to Clarkson in Nashville from 2016 to 2018. Her work primarily involved assisting Clarkson’s team while they were on the road for tours and album promotions.

In 2018, she transitioned to a role as executive management assistant at Blackstock’s Starstuck Entertainment, his talent agency that managed Clarkson at the time. There, she served as Blackstock’s assistant and managed Clarkson’s daily schedule. She was based in Nashville, where Clarkson and Blackstock had a home, and in Los Angeles, to be on the set of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

In June 2020, the same month Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, Jones started a role as executive assistant at V Bar B Cattle Co., a Montana ranch owned by Blackstock.

Both of these companies were launched in 2023.

Per Page Six, Jones’ father wrote a now-deleted Facebook post to honor his daughter’s partner on August 8. “Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock my daughter’s soulmate and I considered him my son,” he wrote in the post.

Jones Was Previously Married

Jones was married to a Nashville-based touring drummer, Greg Goose LaPoint. He appeared in wedding photos posted to her Facebook in 2021. It’s unclear when they separated.

She Worked in the Country Music Industry

Before becoming Clarkson’s assistant, Jones worked in various jobs in the country music world. These included an internship at Capitol Records Nashville and a management role at a company that did tour catering for Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, and Old Dominion.
