If you’re watching the third season of And Just Like That, then chances are you’re frustrated by Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Aidan (John Corbett) and their will-they-won’t-they relationship.

So, we’re also guessing that episode five of the show was a pleasant surprise. In the episode, viewers were introduced to Duncan Reeves (played by Jonathan Cake), Carrie’s cranky downstairs neighbor who just got back in town and can’t stand the noise of her high heels.

“You are always walking in heels!” Duncan screams at Carrie when they first meet. “Hm, guilty,” she says.

When Carrie introduces herself and tries to lighten the mood, it doesn’t exactly pan out. “Duncan Reeves, I’m sorry for my tone, it’s just your predecessor never made any noise,” he says. “She was bedridden,” Carrie replies. “Yeah, it was lovely,” he says. “Perhaps for you, not for her,” Carrie jokes back.

While Duncan is far from a love interest at the moment, his salt-and-pepper hair and charming British accent surely open up the question: Is Duncan Carrie’s new love interest?

Who Is Jonathan Cake?

Cake is a British actor from Sussex, England, who has had a decades-long acting career. Some of his most well-known TV projects over the years include Stargirl, The Affair, Empire, Six Degrees and Desperate Housewives.

Some of is previous movies include First Knight, Krews, Brideshead Revisited, and The Mastersons of Manhattan. He’s also had an impressive career onstage, starring in Broadway performances like Medea, Cymbeline, and The Philanthropist.

As for his personal life, Cake married fellow actress Julianne Nicholson in 2004 (her last role was as the ruthless Sinatra in Paradise). They share two kids, a son named Ignatius, born in August 2007, and a daughter named Phoebe, born in April 2009.

Who Is Duncan Reeves?

As Carrie learned in this episode, Duncan is a famous author who will be her downstairs neighbor for 6 months out of the year. He’s known for working on massive biographies (Harry has been reading his King Henry VIII biography for years!) and is currently working on another despite struggling with writer’s block. He also works during the night and sleeps during the day, which is inconvenient for Carrie, to say the least.

In a text chain with Samantha (aka the character Kim Cattrall played in Sex and the City), she also revealed his reputation across the pond. “They say he’s a lot of fun,” Samantha writes to Carrie.
