Why Brad Pitt Is Going to Great Lengths To Get Angelina Jolie’s Private Messages in Legal Battle

Brad Pitt is demanding access to ex-wife Angelina Jolie‘s private messages as part of their ongoing legal battle over their French winery.

Despite finalizing their divorce in December 2024, eight years after their split, the exes are continuing an ugly court battle over Château Miraval, a French vineyard they purchased while married. In 2022, Pitt filed a lawsuit claiming Jolie illegally and “vindictively” sold her stake in Miraval to the Stoli Group. Pitt is attempting to undo the sale.

The latest is a June 30 court filing obtained by Us Weekly in which the 61-year-old actor told a court he’s been struggling to depose a man named Alexey Oliynik, who works for Stoli Group. The docs also state that Pitt wants Oliynik to turn over messages with Jolie and/or her team. Oliynik argued he was a resident of Switzerland and could not be forced to appear in court or turn over evidence in the case, which was filed in California.

Pitt claims Oliynik has firsthand knowledge of the negotiations with Jolie over the sale of Miraval and insisted that the evidence requested go “directly to his core claims” in the case.

After their split, Pitt’s team allegedly offered his ex-wife $55.4 million for her stake in Miraval, but she backed out of their deal and sold it to Stoli instead. Pitt alleges that Jolie was required to get his approval for any sale but the 50-year-old actress denies this.

Jolie also claims that she backed out of her original deal with Pitt because the actor was attempting to add a “non-disparagement clause” to cover up his “years of abuse.” Pitt denied her allegations.
