The summer of 2025 is turning into the season of unexpected Hollywood couples: Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas, Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson, and Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus. Now, fans might be adding Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to that list. 

While their pairing might seem random after TMZcameras spotted the duodining at the fancy hotspotLe Violon in Montreal, Canada, on July 28, The U.S. Sun is sharing why this unlikely pair actually makes sense. Trudeau’s co-workers described the 40-year-old pop star as a “breath of fresh air” in the 53-year-old politician’s life. 

They both reportedly “share a common interest in trying to make the world a better place” and have “been in contact for weeks after meeting at an event.”

One source explained, “Justin always enjoys nice company, and Katy is the kind of woman that really caught his attention. Justin has been single for a while and has enjoyed getting to know her. He likes her personality, and they are two people who really enjoy chatting about different topics, and they click very well so far, as they are going to see each other again very soon.”

It’s uncertain what will happen next since Perry is still in the early days of her split from Orlando Bloom, and they are navigating those first stages. Trudeau separated from his wife, Sophie, in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. 

A second Trudeau insider claimed to the media outlet that the duo has been planning this possibly romantic meetup “for a while” and that Justin “was very, very excited” to take her out. In addition to dinner, there was a casual walk in the park with her dog ahead of their night out on the town, per TMZ, and a July 30 Trudeau sighting at her concert, per X. 

Besides their single status, both Trudeau and Perry are parents. He shares three children with his ex-wife: Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. Perry shares daughter Daisy, 4, with Bloom. 

With his political background, her Hollywood career, and their public profiles, Perry and Trudeau could be a match made in heaven.
