Will giving massages be the next job to be replaced by AI?

It might be a possibility after an Instagram video showed a row of men in China lying face down as they were massaged by AI robots.

Other than providing a massage, these robots have 3D vision that can measure muscle tension and pinpoint pressure spots, offering targeted pain relief.

Interestingly, this technology isn’t entirely new. It's been available in Singapore since 2019 by local high-tech startup AiTreat.

While we think introverts who dread small talk might be thrilled at the idea, most netizens seem less convinced about this futuristic “upgrade”.

One worriedly asked, “Is there going to be radiation going through me during the session?”

Another observed that the men in the Instagram video didn’t look comfortable at all.

Of course, there were some who joked that they preferred the real deal.

“AI can’t replicate the soft body aroma or tell us “Okay, finish mister,” read a comment.

One netizen also wrote, “But with AI, that means there’s no happy ending”.

Call us prudes but… you technically don’t go for a massage just for that, right?
