Worker dies after 7m fall at Klang construction site

SHAH ALAM: A general worker died after falling from a height of seven metres while painting a steel structure at a construction site in Klang yesterday.
In the 11.45am incident, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) said it received information about the incident on the same day and dispatched an investigating officer to the site to conduct a preliminary probe.
"Initial investigations found that the victim was a subcontractor's general worker.

"The victim died after falling from a height of seven metres while painting the building's steel structure using an A-frame scaffold platform," it said in a statement today.
Selangor DOSH said the body was handed over to the police to be sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang for further action.
At the same time, a prohibition order was issued at the scene to the employer, instructing the immediate cessation of work-at-height activities at the construction site until the investigation is completed.
"A prohibition notice was also issued for the employer's failure to provide a safe work system for work-at-height activities.
"Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and the parties responsible under Section 15(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994," it added.
