From 1 July, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will impose stiffer fines for parking offences, to ensure that such fines “remain an active deterrent”.
Some commenters, however, feel that the new fines – which are set to increase by up to S$30 for various offences – don’t go far enough to deter offenders. For example, the fine for illegal parking for cars will go up from S$50 to S70.
