While voting may seem straightforward, there are key details every voter should know. For instance, the serial number on your ballot is not used to track you, but to prevent fraud and ensure accountability for all issued ballots—just like how serial numbers work on dollar notes. Despite some persistent urban myths, your vote remains entirely confidential. On Polling Day, voters can wear almost anything they like—as long as it doesn't resemble campaign material or promote any political party. That means yes, you can show up in quirky outfits like a Power Ranger costume, but not in anything with party logos. However, there are restrictions within polling stations themselves. Using mobile phones or cameras, bringing pets (except guide dogs), large bags, or campaign paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. These rules exist to preserve privacy and ensure a smooth, secure voting process. For first-time voters, it’s important to understand what to do if mistakes happen. If you accidentally mark your ballot wrongly, you can request a new one—as long as it hasn’t been dropped into the box. Also, don’t try to bring the ballot out of the polling station.More information will be released on Nomination Day, 23 April 2025, when we’ll know exactly who’s contesting in this election.
