Scarves inspired by those extremely long receipts are popping up in shops.

Alan Salganik, who runs the from his home in Chicago, told Insider he created his $19 CVS scarf after he saw people wearing the “as a joke.”

Teacher Kathryn Hughes, who runs the , told Insider that she was inspired to design a scarf after she saw one of her students wearing the receipts.

But now the notoriously long pieces of paper are being transformed into actual scarves – and they’re also going viral.

While the receipts have long been a popular Twitter joke, it was only recently that they found their way onto Etsy in fleece form
