30 Jun - Zahiril Adzim recently admitted that his directorial effort, "Martabat: Misi Berdarah" was based on his own experience of being an actor for the past 19 years.

The actor, whose new movie revolves around a group of extras working in a war movie, said that the film is a satire that touches on the subject of the hardships of being a crew member, as well as the biases shown towards the more famous stars in productions.

"The movie is mostly my experience for the past 19 years. Just some of them are fictional. In Malaysia, we have an ecosystem where the artistes would hang out with the crew. The same goes with the extras," he said.

Asked if there would be those who feel slighted by his film, the actor smiled and said, "That's what I want. Even the artistes who came to the premiere agreed with some of the situations in the film."

As to why he co-directed with Adrian Teh instead of doing it himself, Zahiril said that acting and directing at the same time is no easy feat.

"I asked Adrian to direct it with me, so that when I am on set, he will help me for anything technical," he added.
