7jun2025 1646hrs imm phv #SML7897R toyota prius plus unable to keep in lane upset at camcar honking quoted I had just moved off from the zebra crossing in front of IMM when I noticed a black Toyota Prius on my right, swerving left towards my lane infront without any prior signal or indication. His maneuver was not deemed dangerous, but out of natural reflection, I immediately slowed down and sounded a short warning horn with a slightly longer honk when his car tyre entered into my lane, just to signal the danger. Despite clearly hearing my horn, the driver did not correct his direction. Instead, he maintained his course and positioned his vehicle almost straddling both lanes before turning right onto the road leading to the gantry of IMM carpark (as captured in my dashcam video). To avoid a rear-end collision, I further reduced my speed and allowed him to proceed ahead. After turning right towards the carpark lane, he once again positioned his vehicle directly in front of mine and began braking gradually and deliberately. His erratic driving raised my concern. At this point, I attempted to change to the outer left lane, which leads to an alternative gantry, as there was no traffic in that lane. However, even as I changed lanes, I could feel his vehicle steering subtly towards mine once more. Fortunately, the presence of gantry barriers helped prevent any contact. Both gantries opened at the same time, and immediately after clearing the barrier, the Prius driver accelerated in front of me, only to come to a complete stop directly in my lane again, this time without any obstruction ahead. He began gesturing and later aggressively at me through his rear windshield, including showing me the finger in between. I responded with another gentle tap on the horn to signal that he should move, since his vehicle was obstructing traffic. To avoid escalation, I reversed slightly and shifted to the right lane to pass him. As I was passing, the driver wound down his window and started yelling at me. I tried to explain that he had dangerously cut into my lane, that I had sounded the horn earlier. However, instead of understanding, he responded with vulgarities and aggressive tones. At this point, both vehicles were on a merging lane. My car was slightly ahead and on the right side. In order not to obstruct oncoming vehicles, I chose to ignore him and proceeded forward. Carpark Confrontation I drove up the ramp to Level 5 of the IMM carpark, where I parked my vehicle to attend a meeting with a friend at his office. While parked, I noticed the same Toyota Prius drive past behind my vehicle towards the mall entrance. I chose to ignore him and went ahead with my meeting. Approximately five minutes later, my friend and I were walking towards the mall for a drink when we noticed the same man walking back towards my parked car and taking photos of my vehicle, apparently targeting the number plate. We were approximately 10 metres away at that point. I called out to him and asked why he was taking photos of my car. He then pointed his finger at me, yelled, and suddenly charged towards me in an aggressive manner. As he came close, he shoved his chest into me forcefully and challenged me to a 1-to-1 fight, shouting vulgar language. Instinctively, I raised my elbow in front of my chest to block his aggression and told him firmly to stop and step away. I then showed him my phone with “999” dialed and warned him that I would call the Police if he continued this behaviour. Upon seeing this, he became even more agitated, raised his voice, and began shouting uncontrollably, continuing to provoke me with challenges to fight and more chest bumps. Fearing for our safety, I made the emergency call to 999. Even after the call was made, the man continued shouting, issuing threats, and pushing his chest and arms against me repeatedly in a confrontational manner. My friend and I were forced to retreat step-by-step until I decided to squat near the tyre curb to avoid further escalation, knowing the Police were on their way. While we waited, I decided to video recording his behaviour to document his ongoing aggression intending to show the Police Officer later. The man got hostile again and attempted to snatch my phone while I was recording. Fortunately, my friend quickly intervened and prevented him, but he continued. During this scuffle, I was pushed to the ground. I do not clearly recall the exact motion that led to me falling, but I got up immediately after, still holding my phone, in an effort to discourage further aggression. Soon after, a Police patrol car arrived. The man then turned into a quiet puppy. I immediately explained the incident to one of the attending officers and showed him the video evidence recorded on my phone. The officers calmed the situation and instructed both parties to leave the premises separately. I’ve lodged a Police report online with all the video evidence.
