Sun xueling reveals Resident’s rude email, telling her to “wait for your electoral loss”
Sun Xueling, the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Punggol West SMC, recently relayed an unpleasant feedback she had received from a resident.
The resident directed an email to Sun Xueling and Jamus Lim from the Workers’ Party, while also including various government agencies, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean in the communication.
The email commenced with the phrase: “Sitting pretty and waiting for your electoral loss will be something to look forward to unless something changes here.”
The resident proceeded to express concerns about the perceived disturbance caused by heavy vehicles on a road near Punggol Way during nighttime, urging Sun to “address the issue promptly or face the inevitable loss of this constituency.”
Additional complaints made by the resident included uneven cement floors at the void deck and a dangerous road design, which they characterized as “unacceptable.”
The email concluded with a message to Lim, mistakenly referring to him as James, urging him to “take charge of this area (the constituency) due to the numerous problems here,” and making a reference to the news related to Ridout Road.
Sun Xueling also shared the response from Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council.
Furthermore, Sun provided additional details in the comments section regarding the subsequent steps the town council intends to take.
The follow ups on my end are:
1) TC is aware of the faulty footpath and have deployed contractors since 1 June to work on it.2) free parking on Sunday was a request from residents in the first place so it is difficult to please everyone.
Inconsiderate and selfish people will always put words across so offensively. Seen too many of this kind of emails. Unless they are on the ground to see how problems are rectified by the agencies, they will never show any appreciation.Based on the words that this person is using, I don’t think he will even show his appreciation and gratitude as he feels it is his entitlement and his vote alone will be able to make wonders, thus became so demanding.Any agency has its SOP, regardless of how effective and efficient they are. This is how they solve case by case, there are priorities and some problems need a few agencies to work together and it definitely takes time. This is the same for any cases, regardless of whichever party is the MP from.Failing to understand this is just failing to understand how things work and just insisting on something to be done. Looking at the long list of recipients in the email is obvious that this person is just being too unreasonable.Thank you minister for being tolerant. I believe showing this is not shaming the person but instead trying to create more awareness that such things do happen and hopefully able to create a more gracious society.Just as you said, there are so many ways to provide feedback, why must we use degratory and discriminating words? Does it mean that we can use these words when we are frustrated and angry? How will the community become if everyone is allowed to do that?
I moved to Punggol about 10 years ago, then a lot of construction going on thus a lot of happening for 24hrs a day. The dust and noise and the inconvenience but we just bear with it. Now we have more amenities and convenience, things will be better as we moves on.
It is so sad to be reading this. No one will appreciate such emails and to me, this is a threat esp when he brought up electoral losses and all.I find it very offensive. Believe this is not the only one behaving this way. I felt so sorry for the MPs. Not easy to deal with such folks. They should really live abroad before they learn how to appreciate how much the gov is doing for the citizens.
