PONTIAN: A 58-year-old man was killed after his car collided with a trailer lorry at KM72 Jalan Johor Bahru-Batu Pahat, here.

Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib said the incident occurred at 2.20pm on Friday (April 5).

“The victim was driving his vehicle from Batu Pahat towards Pontian. He was believed to have lost control of his vehicle near Masjid Jamek Pulai Sebatang and went into the opposite lane.

“An incoming lorry failed to evade the vehicle and collided with it,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (April 6).

The victim suffered serious injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, he added.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak shared that a 75-year-old man died after falling from his motorcycle at Jalan Masjid in Kampung Plentong, Johor Baru.

“The incident occurred at 2pm last Wednesday (April 3) when the victim was heading home from Masjid Jamek Kampung Plentong.

“The victim is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the road; he suffered an injury to the head and was brought to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) to be treated.

“He was later pronounced dead at 9.04pm on Friday while undergoing treatment,” he said.
