SINGAPORE - Tan Chong International says it is deeply saddened by the sudden death of its former chief operating officer Seetoh Kwok Meng in Italy on Dec 21.Mr Seetoh, 68, brother of renowned Singaporean food critic, K.F. Seetoh, was killed when a gas explosion occurred at his holiday home in Tuscany, Italy. As of Dec 24, rescue workers are still looking for the body of his wife, Ms Chang Kai En, 52.In reply to queries from The Straits Times, Tan Chong International extended its condolences to his loved ones and said that its staff, many of whom had worked with him during his long career, shared in the loss.It said he had retired in July 2016 after 35 years with the company.“Mr Seetoh was a valued and respected member of our leadership team, making significant contributions to the organisation,” a Tan Chong spokesman said. The spokesman said Mr Seetoh had first joined Tan Chong, the official distributor of Nissan cars in Singapore, a s a sales representative in 1981. In 2013, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Regional Sales at Taiwan Motor Image - a subsidiary of the company. He held that role till his retirement in 2016.

“We remember his contributions with deep gratitude and fondness,” said a Tan Chong spokesperson.
