Two killed, six injured in LTU Expressway crash

LIPIS: Two people were killed while six others were injured in a crash involving a car and a lorry at KM37 of the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Expressway, near Kampung Chegar Perah, at 5.30am today.
Lipis police chief Superintendent Ismail Man said the car, driven by a 45-year-old local man, was travelling with seven family members from Klang to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Baru to visit relatives.
"At the scene, the vehicle is believed to have lost control before crashing into the rear of a lorry that was parked by the roadside," he said in a statement.
The deceased have been identified as Roslawati Mat Daud, 50, and Aqif Azfar Azman, 6. Both died at the scene from severe injuries.

The lorry, driven by a 33-year-old local man and accompanied by an assistant, had stopped at the roadside for a toilet break. The vehicle was heading from Melaka to Ketereh to deliver furniture. Neither of the lorry occupants was injured.
"The car driver and five other family members were rushed to Kuala Lipis Hospital for treatment," said Ismail.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police have urged witnesses to come forward with information to assist in the investigation.
