SINGAPORE: Hawker meals could soon cost more, with some stallholders across Singapore increasing prices by up to S$1 (US$0.80) as rising ingredient and energy costs continue to squeeze margins. Hawkers say the Middle East conflict has pushed overheads even higher, with some reporting profit drops of up to 20 per cent. Industry players are calling for more government support, including rental and utility rebates, as cost pressures mount across the sector.

the middle east war is still on going. so businesses and hawkers across the board will take this advantage to raise the $1, so hawkers centres food are no more cheap and affordable from April 2026. Even if the middle east war has ended, this $1 increment will not go down and will remain and permanently . Singapore is an island state, with high prices across all types and sectors, salary remain low and unemployment will rise.

hawkers taking advantage to increase pricing using fuel cost as an excuse..just boycot the stalls. Like the stall charging 90cts for 3 plastic bag for takeaway. Thats ridicuios .Eat home cook food .Cheaper healtier and save monies.
