The Eat Out to Help Out scheme launches today, giving you 50% off at some of your favourite restaurants, including McDonald’s.

It means you’ll automatically get all your favourites for half price (up to the value of £10 per person) any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday throughout August if you sit in.

But thanks to a Metro voucher hack, you can get even more off and get a whole meal for under £1 at McDonald’s.

This Thursday and Friday, you can pick up free vouchers for the fast-food chain exclusively in the printed edition of Metro.

You’ll find four vouchers inside – including two for a Big Mac or McChicken Sandwich with a side salad or medium fries, one for a Quarter Pounder with the same choice of sides, and one for a Filet-O-Fish, again with the same choices.

Using the vouchers means you can get any of those options for just £1.99, but on the Eat Out to Help Out days, you automatically get 50% off your bill, bringing the total to just 99p.

A Big Mac usually costs £3.19 and medium fries cost £1.19 so it’s a huge saving of over £3.39 per meal.

The Metro voucher doesn’t include a drink but you can pick one up for 50p under the Eat Out to Help Out scheme (99p any other day).
