Amber (Madeleine Jevic) and Dean (Patrick O’Connor) have been at odds in recent weeks over their son Jai (River Jarvis), with Amber constantly threatening Dean with no access if she doesn’t agree with him.

Now Dean and Jai are missing, and Amber is beginning to worry about where they might have gone. Similarly, Willow (Sarah Roberts) and Colby (Tim Franklin) begin to suspect something is wrong. 

Meanwhile, Dean has taken Jai to a house he used to use as a hideout when he was a River Boy. Telling Jai it’s an old friend’s house, they get settled in.

Beginning to enjoy the lack of stress there compared to life in Summer Bay, Dean leaves a message with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) saying he’s decided to leave and says goodbye. 

Back in the Bay, Amber is beside herself with worry and feels she will need to call the cops soon. While she frets, Dean makes plans to flee to Queensland with his son…
