Foxtail grass - Épillets - can kill a dog or cat. These grass seeds have pointed arrow ends - they are designed to go into the soil easily - but they can easily get into an animals fur and then into their skin. Once inside the skin, they travel to the animals vital organs causing a very distressing death quite quickly. More easily seen on a short haired cat or dog. Not so easy to spot on a longer haired animal.I have these them in my field and I remove them and check my pets regularly.
