Putu Piring and Tutu Kueh: Where to go for these childhood snacks
Asia One·2022-03-26 19:04
Essentially, putu piring and tutu kueh are the same. Both are made with rice flour packed into a mould with some filling before they are steamed that are best eaten immediately.
Putu piring is most known to be filled with gula melaka (palm sugar) and generally has a looser, less dense mouthfeel compared to tutu kueh, which is commonly stuffed with peanuts or shredded coconut.

appreciated. remembered the Tutu cakes were so common and selling 3 for $1 during my childhood days, but it seems to be so rare nowadays AND obviously more expensive! 💹
